TO CHASE OR NOT TO CHASE, THAT CAN NEVER BE THE QUESTION.
Every time law enforcement is involved in a high speed pursuit it ends’ in 1 of two ways. The suspect driver either pulls over to give up, or crashes. If they pull over and give up, job well done, no one says anything, but if they crash, depending on the damage done, the public raises the question, should limits be placed on when police should or shouldn’t pursue a suspect.
Both sides have their reasons for argument, and both sides’ reasons are valid.
Law enforcement knows that when a person flees at high speed there can be several reasons, speeding from the scene of a major crime or perhaps they are a wanted criminal or a driver under the influence. If left alone, the fleeing vehicle, could cause excessive damage, human injury or fatalities.
On the other hand, the general public looks at a pursuit that ended in a head on collision with another vehicle, which takes the lives of people not involved in the chase, as unacceptable.
The reason for this stalemate, We are all asking the wrong question! The real question is; should law enforcement cause a high speed car chase, when they do not posses the ability to quickly control the situation and protect the public?
The answer: equip law enforcement with the technology to do just that. Give the officer the ability to stop the pursuit with in seconds of it beginning. Give the officer the Talon 2 TPS.
The Talon Tire Puncturing System or Talon 2TPS is a devise that when mounted on the patrol car will give the officer the ability to deflate 1, 2, 3 or even 4 of a fleeing vehicles tires within seconds.
What is the talon 2TPS, it’s a laser sighted, 3 barreled semi automatic fire arm devise.
Each time it is fired, it expels 3 projectiles or talons. It can be fired 4 times before reloading.
The patented projectile or Talon is designed to cut a hole in a tire and let the air out at a controlled rate. The tire does not blow out. This will significantly reduce the speed of the fleeing vehicle, by making it uncomfortable but not impossible to maneuver. This will protect the public by allowing the officer to stay in control of the situation.
Talon penetrators are designed to disintegrate upon impact with asphalt if the officer is to miss his/her target. This keeps the surrounding area safe from confliction with innocent bystanders (or pedestrians)
Talon also protects the officer. Currently the officer must speed along with the suspect, thought traffic, avoiding obstacles, sometimes even coming into contact with the suspect vehicle know as pit-maneuvering. The Talon 2 TPS is effective at up to 900 feet; this allows the officer to disable the suspect vehicle from a safe distance. Then hold back, knowing the tires are going flat and wait while the suspect wrestles their vehicle to a stop. Several safety features have been built into this devise which allow the officer to aim and fire the weapon with out ever taking their hands off the steering wheel or their eyes from the pursuit.
Over the last ten years Delos Development, has been advancing the Talon TPS to meet the operational requirements and safety standards given to them by the Orange County Sheriff’s department as well as the California Highway Patrol.
The talon 2 tps has undergone 10 years of rigorous testing and upgrading. The Talon 2TPS has been approved for use by the department alcohol, tobacco and fire arms (BATF). It has shown it self to be the most practical and dependable devise, to resolve high speed pursuit, on the market today.
What makes Talon the right choice?
